New to recording

Hi, im new to recording equipment ive been recording vocals on youtube just through my phone a friend told me all the equipment id need so over Christmas bought a tascam dp008ex and a snowball ice microphone but because its a usb mic im not sure how i can connect it to my tascam? Or can i connect them both to a laptop and record that way?

There is a USB port on your Tascam, but as far as I am aware that is to allow it to be connected to a computer to transfer files, not as a recording input.

 

Did someone advise you to buy these two bits of gear? Because as far as I can tell they do not work together.

 

To give you better advice I have a few questions:

 

1. Do you play any instruments?

2. Do you plan going places to record, or just record at home? How important is mobile recording?

3. Is your computer a tablet, laptop or desktop?

4. Windows Android iOS?
