New to the forum and songwriting in general

Dallas here, 

I play the guitar,  have been off and on for 15 years now. I have quite a few guitars about two-thirds electric and 1/3 of them acoustic and I go back and forth which ones I played the most. I play with a band sometimes as the third guitarist strictly Rhythm on electric and chords on acoustic. Over the last two years I have been playing pretty heavy and I started to write songs or what were as far as I knew songs but then I started learning about song structure and I have probably 100 recorded riffs or song sections that I need to put together into songs and a lot of them I written for each other.  So why am I on here to get information and advice on writing songs and also to put my stuff out there and see if anybody and tell me what needs to be improved or if anybody's got anything to add to em,  and to be thoroughly critiqued.  Thanks and looking forward to sharing.

I am looking forward to hear what you post. I know that on and off feeling with guitar. I have found making music has really kept me inspired to actually pick it up lately. I hope it sticks.

I agree, making music is really rewarding, and even if sometimes gets a bit hard and frustrating, at the end, when you get some stuff done that souds great, the feeling is so nice and addictive. Brings the motivation to keep working and improving!

I've been playing guitar for a while and can resonate with the whole switching between guitars thing, lmao.

 

I too have hundreds of riffs recorded that are just sitting on my hard drive, collecting digital dust...
