Hello Jaja, this board is to introduce yourself. Once you have interacted within the community you can post for critique. Feel free to look around and make some posts.

Best,

Hey jada, yeah, you should better introduce yourself here and post your request for critique somewhere else (covers & remixes maybe?).

But since you've already posted it, I will tell you my opinion from "someone-who-is-learning-to-sing" perspective:

I think you have definitelly a nice voice in terms of sound, but you are often quite pitchy along the song. There are two most probable explanations for that:

a) Lack of voice control.

b) Difficulty for listening and identifying your pitch properly while singing. (Can you hear that you are not hitting the right notes?)

If you can hear you are not accurate it's just a matter of lack of voice control, and it's easy to solve with proper singing practice. If the case is that you can't hear well the pitch, it is a more complex matter to face and it might require a bit more time I think. In any case,  the best way to practice, being option a or b, is doing notes and scales over a keyboard. Play the notes in sustain and modulate your voice until hitting the note accuratelly. It's quite easy to know if you are hitting the right note because you'll feel as if your head was entering in resonance with the key, it's a very easy to identify feeling. Once you can hit properly all independent notes, you can start doing scales and later progressions or jumps between keys. Once you are able to do that inside your voice registry, you can start playing with different throat openings and laryngeal positions, and changing between chest, speaking and head voice... It's a big work and doesn't come from night to day, but it's very rewarding and interesting!

Hope it helps!

Welcome to Songstuff by the way ^^

Hi. Sry for posting in the wrong section, is there any way i can move it or can someone (Admin) do it for me?

I appreciate the feedback, because in my ears my voice is ugly, that probably comes from the anxiety and depression that i'm struggling with. One thing that i notice is that when  i am singing,  my anxiety is being replaced with a good feeling, it's hard to explain it but it just feels like im doing the right thing playing music. But most of the time the anxiety stops me from singing well, wich is pretty annoying..

I bought my guitar in February this year, that is also when i started experiencing with my voice,  so i am not experienced at all.

But lets introduce my self then!

I am 23 years old and i live in Norway (So apologies for my bad English). I am currently a student that got no clue what to do with his life, i guess  i feel kind of lost.

Growing up i was not the happy kid, i got bullied alot wich i think made me an angry and sad person in the adult life, and i have struggeled with depression for some years now.

But i have i have found music and feel like i finally found something that makes me feel better, that is why i posted this song, wich i tought myself and recorded in a day.

Cheers!

Music is a great way of getting distracted. Also, through the vibrations of the sound you are able to trigger different feelings, so, listening to happy (major chords mainly) music, you'll have somehow a relieve in depressive feelings. It's good to find a great hobby with so many things to offer you, and that you will be able to keep through your entire life, and I think this forum is an amazing place to start living the music in a higher level! ^^  I see Fire is not the happiest song ever, I should say, but it's a nice one, isn't it? :)

I hope that, if you've been diagnosed with depression, you are visiting the doctor and taking proper medication. It's a serious disease and, in most of the cases, you can't really get rid of it by yourself. I'm telling you this from a scientific point of view, it's not an opinion, it's a fact. Anxiety attacks are specially nasty, I'm sorry to hear that you suffer from them.

About the voice issues: everything is a matter of practice. If you are able to identify your particular mistakes while singing, and you accept them and work to correct them, you'll soon become better! In my singing lessons I spend about half of the class, everytime I have a lesson, doing scales, and singing making HORRIBLE noises to get used to get the most of my head and throat to project my voice and make it resonate nicely. Sometimes it's SO RIDICULOUS that both my teacher and I have to stop for a while because we can't stop laughing! xD
