I'm not sure about 'best' or 'most excellent', but here's something from Al and me. :)

Anyone who's experienced the 'wide-awake-at-3am-curse' will be able to relate. ;)

Insomnia

V1

Hopeful

Ready

Into bed

Pillow soft

Beneath my head

Slide into the velvet dark

Daily cares have left their mark

Pre-chorus 1

I hold my breath now, what's that voice

Leaving me without a choice

Oh no, not again

Chorus

Insomnia, insomnia

What a ruthless captor

Insomnia, insomnia

I don't know what you're after

V2

Twisting

Turning

Tangled quilt

Ropes of sorrow

Threads of guilt

Gone the hope of healing sleep

No one here my soul to keep

Pre-chorus 2

I groan and fumble for the light

Going to be a hellish night

Oh no, not again

Chorus

Insomnia, insomnia

What a ruthless captor

Insomnia, insomnia

I don't know what you're after

Bridge

Sweet god Somnus hear my plea

Bring your healing sleep to me

Old regrets have made me tough

Is that not punishment enough?

Chorus

Insomnia, insomnia

What a ruthless captor

Insomnia, insomnia

I don't know what you're after
