Hello all, here is one of my light hearted pop songs I hope you will like.   Thanks for listening. Lyrics are posted below.

Dominick/Moptop

Girlfriend

Verse 1
I’ve been thinking, thinking 'bout you all damn day
I can’t seem to get you out of my mind
I was hooked the first time I saw you
I knew, I knew, I knew I had to make you mine

Pre Chorus:
When you turned and smiled at me
I thought I’d seen an angel
The girl I always dreamed about
And hope I’d someday find

Chorus:
Oh please, please tell me you’ll be my girlfriend
Don’t say no or you will break my heart
Oh please tell me I just found my best friend
No, no, no, don’t you, don’t you break my heart.

Verse 2
I’ve been wondering, wondering if I’d find you
Some days my dream seemed so far away
Now that you’re here, I’ll do anything
Anything to make you want to stay

Pre Chorus:
Cause when you turned and smiled at me
I thought I’d seen an angel
The girl I always dreamed about
And hope I’d someday find

Chorus:
Oh please, please tell me you’ll be my girlfriend
Don’t say no or you will break my heart
Oh please tell me I just found my best friend
No, no, no, don’t you, don’t you break my heart.

Repeat Chorus:

It has a super classic vibe, I guess because of the back singing chorals. It's lovely to listen, easy going and very sweet. I like it a lot!

Thanks for sharing! :)

This is actually pretty damn good. How could people be sleeping on this!

Did you go to a studio to record this? Sonically its beautiful. Lyrically, kept me listening all the way through!

Beege,

thanks for the Kudo's!  No studio, I did this at home. I have my corner of the downstairs where I  have a desktop with a mixer/interface and do all the effects and mixing in the box, so to speak. I use Cubase 9.5 Elements as my DAW. It's not the full blown version but it has more than enough oompf to do everything I need. .............. And it beats me why it hasn't had much interest!

Well produced and well sung.  If this was 1972 this would be ready!

Yep, that's me, living in the past!😄 I tend to like more of the style of music that I grew up with.  60's pop are some of my favorites.

Thanks!!

Nice song Moptop !  Fun melody and lyrics with heartfelt vocals tracks

Thanks Ray, I just try to think of myself in that position and it seems to help in figuring out what to say and how to say it. I can't take full credit on, I did have some excellent help with the lyrics on this one.  I like fun songs. I write and record solely for my own enjoyment so as mentioned above I write stuff that I would like to listen to.  Not many songwriters/musicians, or forum members for that matter, seem to like the 60's pop style and try to steer clear of it.  I don't understand why..maybe because they don't see it as "serious" music. It seems to kind of bug them that a pop song gets any attention on these forums.

Anyway, thank you to all above for you kind comments and interest.

It doesn't get anymore "pop" than this! Very pleasant and easy listening experience, it has a live studio recording vibe: clean but also a little scruffy. 😎 -Ken

Ken,

thanks very much.  Yep, that's me, scruffy!   I am very pleased and surprised on your "live studio" comment. The only two things that were miked were the acoustic 12 string and my vocals.   I'm trying very hard to get the mixing thing down and get it so has some "air" to it but doesn't sound too...over produced....if that makes any sense.

And Lisa, Peggy, and everyone, thanks for the "likes".  I didn't see them until now.!
