I've been a professional musician for 50 years (I started very young) and I'm now on a quest to change the way we learn music. I believe we must learn to "speak" the language of music before we learn to read and write it. Otherwise there is no context to understand what we're reading and writing. Too many people think that they're unable to play music because they find trying to "read" sheet music difficult and frustrating. Then they give up.  It doesn't have to be that way.  We're ALL musical and we can all learn to play easily.

Hi. I don't know if this is exactly what you're saying, but I feel like it's so much better to know music on like a fundamental level and understand why it works the way it does or whatever. Instead of just memorizing licks and stringing them together. I mean I don't think there's a right way and a wrong way, but I just feel like it makes a musician so much more versatile to understand what's going on underneath the notes they hear.

If you mean identifying something that takes informal learning and seemingly intuitive learning and creates a more indepth understanding, a more formal knowledge, without all the dry, dry learning of theory... that would be interesting. Ambitious!
