Couldn't read the article... Times nag kept popping up, covering it up. But I Watched Dune  last night and I was very aware of the soundscape. At times it reminded me of my own looping adventures. I'm very into weird, moody aura noise

Guests should be able to read three free articles a month. Sorry for the hassle. I'm a subscriber so I guess I didn't think about that. As a subscriber I'm supposed to be able to "gift" 10 articles per month. I'll look into seeing if there's a better way to do that.

I have read the books and seen all the old Dune movies, though unfortunately I haven't seen this new one yet, nor have I heard the soundtrack. I`m hoping so see it sometime this week, than I will be able to comment properly. Though generally speaking, I did read the article and I am familiar with his methods. I might get some flank for saying this, but the problem I have always had with cinematic Soundtracks, is that while they are impressive and inspiring in terms of what gets done in them, they are not all that "fun" to listen too.

Oh the other hand...

Your welcome 😅

This is really cool! Reminds me of a more stripped down version of Circle of Dust.

How Hans Zimmer Conjured the Otherworldly Sounds of ‘Dune’ https://nyti.ms/3jrOb5a

Interesting article, I listened to pieces of the soundtrack on Youtube. It is kind of hard to form an opinion without watching the movie or hearing the soundtrack continuously as a whole.

It seemed a lot like something Robert Fripp might do although I might be totally off base since I only heard segments of it.

Unfortunately I still haven't seen it yet. Reboots, remakes and re-imaginings, tend to be iffy. So i`m happy to hear that they have done right by the franchise! :)

The last Dune didn't count. It was David Lynch, who is a great director, but not right for the movie adaptation. I think technology needed to catch up with what was needed for Dune to be fully realized. This is the perfect marriage of cinematography and sound. They really focused on the occult/spiritual nature of the book, and the story and development are very true to Herbert's vision. In that sense, it feels like the *first* Dune. Lynch's version was more of an artful interpretation.
