Well, I'm not accustomed to this particular mix of instruments – very "square-wavey" to my ears – but nonetheless, this song holds together very well.  It has a clear structure and variety which maintains your interest, with the right amount of repetition.

I was also very pleased to sense that these are human performances that you didn't try to "quantize" or "clean up."  The only thing that slightly surprises me is the ending, which is just a fade without much wrapping-up of the musical loose ends.

Thank you Mike. You are very kind as well as perceptive of my intent.

It was a conscious choice to do the floating segment again then drop into a void hoping listeners would expect more.  The squeak from the guitar as the end note was an attempt to recreate a mechanical brake noise.

This also continues something done during the horn transitions. The first transition and third transitions after the main theme are 4 measures long. The second after the floating is 4 beats long.

This is because I am of the transcendental school of musical thought running from Coltrane to Santana. I view my muse as being the Universal Mind. Being only human I am an imperfect vessel as a conduit for relaying this.

People with similar beliefs understand that excessive polishing is not only fruitless egotism but corrupts and degrades the vision by bringing it further into the realm of the Material Plane. The rawness of the presentation in its imperfection is only a reflection of the perfect as seen through a glass darkly.

As Oscar Wilde noted, “The ugly can quite often be beautiful, the merely pretty never.”
