Hey Rene.

Nice tone/recording and well played with the melody made to stand out clearly.  There's a LOT to like!

For my own personal taste (and we're all different) I thought it too repetitive, but I know, unless you're freakily gifted like a Tommy Emmanuel, it's really tough providing a build or change-up in a solo live guitar instrumental.  A simple pre-recorded backing (or a friend, live, off-camera) e.g. a pad or strings, would have helped build and lift the emotion after the first unaccompanied section.

The video of 'a man hunched over a guitar' didn't help ... especially compared to your other performances which have been so  engaging.  For the stated aim, the purity and bittersweet melancholy of your guitar would have worked brilliantly to underscore saddening newsreel clips of the situation in Ukraine and/or contrasting clips of beautiful peaceful things and people.

Great performance and sentiment. These are just other approaches that appeal to me.

Hi GregB,

As always, your feedback is always on point and much appreciated.

You are absolutely correct, for the normal audience, a performance like this is really not an attention getter, or will not sell like hotcakes.

I am absolutely with you on all your points.

For this particular song, which is really a Taize-type hymn.

Taize takes the structure of an obstinate, a simple melody that repeats over and over, and is meant to serve as a kind of musical centering prayer.

Again, your feedback is always helpful and appreciated.

With Respect,

Rene
