The Statue

Family money pays for the statue. One of the greats that keep coming at you. I can't be touched I'm up so high. I am above it all.

View from the top. View from 'The Steeple'. In happier times my gift to the people. Hundred feet in the sky. Fifty six feet tall.

Commissioned portraits of my family. Reward for how I shaped society. It Fits my status. I was a man with influence.

Opportunistic. Not getting what I want. Nowhere to go. Nothing to do. Trouble attracting. Overreacting.  Nothing to spare. Nothing to share. 

Another statistic. Under achieving. Done for the thieving. The way to say Thanks. A rise through the ranks. Dig a bit deeper to figure it out.

Turns out voluntary money pays for the statue. Threat of the jail was what's coming at you. The workers. They have their own pharmacy. 

Black mark against the blacklist purveyor. Ruling elite. Slave trade delayer.  Blackened his name.  Powers that be. Some Legacy.

Decision is taken. Cost to reverse. Never that good at being diverse. Shut the people up with a bandage. No change at the top.
