Hi all,

Hope you are doing OK. Please find number 9 in theGarageJump songbook, 'Chasing After Stardom'. It would be great if you would give it a listen/ view please. I know I said 12 songs @ 1 a week though change of plan. More details behind the rationale are in theGarageJump YouTube channel, though largely I have found that online networking and 'self promotion' does get in the way of being creative. I have never been in this position before so had nothing to compare it against. Still a number of songs (i.e. more than three) good to go. I will put the last three demos (of this batch) out when I am back in the game.

Thank you for your support. Here is the link and the lyrics to 'Chasing After Stardom'. I hope that you like it.

Chasing after Stardom

Telling you how good I'll be puts pressure on myself. Not a problem if I can deliver. Controlling presence. Someone to rely on I can trust. Problems managing the gifts I have been given.

Can't live without it now I'm used to it. Restrictions tighten since my big money move. I won't end up on top if it's always about me. But favourite subject gets me in the groove.

And to those who need to take me down. The strength I'll need I'll find it in their poison. And never let them make me.

Everyone who's anyone is chasing after stardom.  Show your talent. See it in the spotlight. Deserving of some recognition. Here today, gone tomorrow. Thought my life was worth a little more than that.

And to those who need to take me down. The strength I'll need I'll find it in their poison. And never let them make me.

Everyone who's anyone is chasing after stardom. Sanity's what's stopping all the others. It's great that you are so good at what you do. Just a shame I have to hear about it.

I'll bet in quieter moments once you get there. The strength you'll need you'll find it in their poison. Won't alter personality.

True words. Keep rocking. the message is great. I agree. We need to use the negativity as something that pushes us forward not backward. Cheers man. I like your singing. I also like the special effects in the song.

Your style is very different from the music I usually listen to. The first time heard it I didn't know what to think. The lyric sounded very "stream of consciousness" and the melody had such minimal modulation. I'm so used to more traditionally crafted lyrics and melody that I felt unqualified to comment on the song. But, there was something about the track that pulled me back to listen a few more times.

What I discovered after multiple listenings was that it started to appeal to me. I became more attuned to the subtleties that I had missed. I found your voice and emotionally flat vocal delivery compellingly appealing, serving the song's message so well.  Also, I found it fascinating that your atmospheric music modulated with the lyric in a way that emphasized and complemented the changing emotions of the lyric, doing the emotional work that your vocal intentionally avoids. I was pleasantly surprised to discover a lot of very creative and detailed song craft in your work that I hadn't recognized when I heard it for the first time. Impressive work!

This song is rich in meaning and in subtle creativity which I'm very glad to have taken the time to dig into. I look forward to listening to more of your music.

Thanks for the detailed critique RB..all very welcome....and for going back in to listen again. I reckon that most of us agonise over the lyrics/ phrasing/ arrangement/ delivery. Loads more GarageJump songs on YouTube and loads more to come....just happy to be lucky and healthy enough to be going through that process. Quid pro quo - let's hear more of yours.
