What have I done?  The old adage “The more you learn, the less you know” is biting my ass.

I just thought I’d give it a try, what could it hurt, it’s probably going to turn out rotten and I won’t like it.  Ha, was I ever surprised.

i don’t have a computer at home anymore, nowadays it’s just the phone so I’m on song generator apps which I would assume, without justification or cause, that they are a step below what one might find more useful if I were going to a site.  But yeah, so far it’s been interesting.

i have oodles of lyrics that have never been put to music, never sung or shared with any audience.  Most of them are here on Songstuff, the ones I can copy and paste from anyway.  I don’t know exactly how many collaborations I’ve been fortunate enough to have had, but it’s like a whole new door has opened for me to hear a song from my lyrics now.

i don’t know anything about AI, copyrights, stolen melodies? Or even how to use the apps beyond pasting my lyric and listening to the result.

Have to admit I’m inquisitive about the whole process as I’ve liked some of the results and the ones I don’t like, all I have to do is delete it.  No tip toeing around an issue for fear of seeming ungrateful.

yea, there are issues with them, like they limit every song and don’t completely cover the whole lyric, they stop at like 2 minutes or less, but it’s enough to be able to take to a band member and see if it’s something they would like to work out.

Im also a consistent editor of my lyrics and hearing them in song form is one of the best tools there is for that.  But, that brings up another problem.  I can edit the lyric and not get the same music or melody the next time I try it.  That issue in particular is one I think a website could do better than an app.

they are cheap.  No threat of losing your house, or 3….yep, I knew a guy who said he’d lost houses, wives, belongings, everything, and was $200,000 in debt paying people in Nashville to make demos and promote his music.  He was a member here once.  So cost isn’t really an issue but what is?  There must be a downside.  It’s only a demo, but what am I missing?

Im a star damn it,

Tom
