  1. Hi,

I wondering if anyone here is interested in buying the FL Studio DAW at a discount (the more we are in the group buy, the greater the rebate - 50%)

You can check it out here:

I've been using Reaper up to now, and trying out FL Studio 9.7 alongside with Sonar 8.5, I find that FL Studio has a structure that offer a lot more workflow.

Plus, a lot cheaper than the others.

  2. Hi!

Buy, it's been a long time since I posted in the forum...!

My computer's been out of order for many months now, nut I've been building one from scratch, using wood and cork (for its acoustic properties).

I bought a silent power supply, silent fans with controllers, a passive heatsink for VGA, a huge aluminum heatsink for the CPU.

It'll be finished in two week so I'll post pictures of it and tell you how it works.

  3. Hi John,

What I meant is "headphones". I will follow your recommendation for open back headphones. I was only thinking Sennheiser, but I will also look at Beyer and AKG.

    Thanks,

    Marc

    Hey Marc

It's also worthwhile noting that much of the recent press is focused specifically on the ear-bud type earphones, which is a very different story from the muff style.

If you are using headphones all the time I would make sure that you are using "open back" headphones for mixing (you'll need close backed headphones for vocal recording vocals etc due to noise spill). Open back headphones colour the sound less and they won't tire your ears quite so much.

I'll see if I can diig out something for you. Have you tried the senheiser, beyer dynamic or akg sites?

    Cheers

    John

  4. I don't even have studio monitors... I find them expensive, and, most of all, I don't have enough room. So my question is, do earphones pose a threat to the ears? I've read some things about it, such as Pete Townsend's comments, but has anybody got something precise, a scientific article or something?

    Thanks,

    Marc

  5. The song's finished! There's a few things here in there to tweak and arrange, but it's done. John, do you still want to sing on it? Give me some news, I'll send you the song.

    Marc

  6. I'm still at it. I'm recording the solo now, with an acoustic guitar. The strings arrangement is sounding good, but I'm still looking for more realistic-sounding sampled instruments. I'm using Vienna solo strings.

  7. [smiley=acoustic.gif] The song is progressing. It starts with acoustic guitar, playing arpeggiated. Then I've arranged it with a violon and a cello up to now. But I'm still looking for a good sounding cello. I'm 1/4 way through the song!
  8. What's your sound card problem? Have you tried changing the pci slot it is inserted in?

I tried that. In fact I tried everything, even positive thinking by sending positive energy waves to the computer. I bought a new card in the end. The X-Fi. Now I'm in the process of reinstalling everything on my computer; I formatted it a few days ago. :o

  9. I'm having a serious problem with my computer. The computer store replaced the motherboard (it was still convered by the garantee), but now I'm having problems with my sound card. I'll have to buy a new one before I can do anything musical with my computer. I really liked my soundblaster platinum ex with its breakbox. To heaven you go little one, you served me well during the past 1 and a half year... [smiley=hearts.gif]

  10. Hey Marc, I'll give it a go if you want. Do you have tracks yet? I'm familiar with the song. If I'm not up to par, I have a Friend who might do better. Sounds like fun!

Oh yeah! Thank you for accepting, you or your friend. The tracks aren't recorded yet, but it'll only be a matter of a few weeks before I record and mix the song. I have to call the computer store today to see if my computer's fixed. I'll send you preliminary tracks to you to get an idea as soon as I can. It'll be fun!

  11. Hey Marc

I hurt my back in September. I spend most of my time on the floor at the mo, and my studio is in the attic.

That said my wife cleared the pizza boxes 2 weeks ago so I can get in easier. :)

I was planning on getting started recording and getting one of my friends to operate the gear for me, so it's not a major issue, assuming I can climb the stairs! For dependability, if nothing else, you might be better going with Nightwolf. either way just let me know and it's cool.

    Cheers

    John

I wish you recover soon. Speaking of back pain, I'm one who shares the same condition. I have an appointment at the chiropractor's tomorrow. Previously, I went to see an osteopath. But what really saved me was applied kinesiology. by balancing the verterbrae muscles, I could avoid subluxations.

Yesterday, I cleaned up my studio. It was the saw dust and piles of books that made it a mess. Well, we'll see tomorrow if it can stay clean.

    Take care!

    Marc

  12. dont know Twisted Sister. But heard of them through the movie 'Flight of the Navigator'. I'll ask around.

Twisted Sister is an 80s metal band who wore dreadful costumes and played the role of dissenters of authority, in an teenager's way.

Hey, they have a website! I didn't know they were still alive.
