Personal Thoughts on Humanization of midi tracks. Can of worms? Probably.A bit of back ground on myself.I played in my own and others bands thru out my teen years into my 30’s.I finally can afford Logic. I am retired. I'm back into making music.During this time I was also learning theory composition, arranging, and songwriting. The Songwriting being my favorite. Now I have time to play.I have logic and other music apps for my Macbook and my iPod.I score all my music, I do not do Classical but Rock.I started sequencing using a Roland MC 101 and a TR909. I wrote everything on Paper then programmed it into the TR 909 and the MC101 synced with Midi. While doing this I was playing in bands. No on to how I feel about humanization.Neither the TR909 or MC101 had humanization.Logic does. I am not a fan. When I score something that is the way I would like it played. If I wanted it played off the notes, etc. I'd play it myself.I think the people hollering about humanization should go ahead with it if that’s what they want. But don’t bitch about the “midi sound†of other peoples work. After years of dealing with “Human Players†I'm Thankful for my machines.Who are at the ready to work don’t show up on cocaine, heroin, various pills and liquors.Actually do show up and are not late, do not have to “Play it their way.â€And are capable of playing what I have written. So as for humanization no thank you. Tried it don’t like it.If you like it that’s fine with me I won’t complain about you using it.

I will do that from now on. Thank you .

@ justsoulin : Please let me know where to put this. For just listening no hard critiquing. It just a song I do this for fun.

Hi Uncle,
What are you hoping to get back from posting this in 'this' part of the site? Critique? If so, you need to let me know so someone can move it to the right place.
Thx
First My apologies for putting it in the wrong place. I was just putting it up for listening. Where is the proper place to post it?
Again I apologize.

Fear ♩= 110
Fear is what some men feel.
Fear that's all too real.
Sometimes men fear what is true.
For the things they do.
Verse1
Fear of fire and fear of death
Both should cause concern.
Smoke alarms and gasoline
Scary and they burn.
Verse 2
In our great society
Lots can make us scared
Guns and thugs and angry men
Hopefully we're spared.
Verse 3
In our fear and in our dread
We should show some strength.
We should try and fight our fears.
Go to any length.

All very good replies and they are appreciated. Thank you all and may inspiration be upon you.

Thanks to all of you guys these are great answers to my questions. I really appreciate it.
-
For the record, I've done both....multiple times.
Matter of fact, when it comes to the actual writing, I find it easier to craft chorus first, then build out from there. Similar to the way you'd construct an essay.....decide on the theme first, the build on it. I've also begun with a title, then chorus, then verse/bridge sections.
In my experience, there's no one way that's correct, comes down to whatever the specific individual is comfortable with.
Tom
Thank you Tom: That was exactly the kind of answer I was looking for.

Just to clarify a bit.....I'm confused by the way the question was stated.
- Are you asking for thoughts on beginning a song with the chorus section?
- Are you asking about creating (writing) the chorus section first?
Sorry to be so confusing. I'd like to hear people's thoughts on either question.
-
I had a comment on one of my songs it went like this:
"I created a song once that started with the chorus, and was told by the dude doing the backing that starting with chorus wasn't done…well I am glad you are like me and actually several other commercial song writers and like to push the boundaries"
I'd be happy to hear others thoughts on this.
My thoughts are. I usually write the chorus first.
Which is the idea for the song.
Then write verses to expand on the idea of the song.
Then I repeat the chorus as a reminder as to what the song is about. Also usually contains the "Hook".
Let me also add that I don't find form that essential. Anything goes. Rules are there to be broken,
As displayed by my neighbors who do not bother to pick up their dog's waste, or use leashes.
Thanks

Hi: I have a website with all my songs on it is this the place to give the url so people can go there to listen to my songs?
I am not a producer just a songwriter composer. Melody lyrics with a simple band that I compose for. Guitar, Bass, Drums, Organ, Piano, and me singing. All done in Logic 9. Thanks
-
Score Creator for IOS.What a Great app for writing melody and lyrics. The Midi file imported to Logic 9 is flawless melody and lyrics import lined up and ready to go. (no hyphens but that is a small thing.)Every musician and Composer should have this app!! IT'S GREAT!!

One question if you want the V chord to be a ninith or seventh is this how you would express it? V9 or V7? Thanks
-
Yes a very big help, thank you for clearing me up on the Roman numerals.
And thank you for the progressions.
This was what I was looking for.
Thank you and thanks to all who replied.
-
Just the intervals like : Intro = 1, 2, 5, 1. In the key of C that would be"C", "D", "G", "C". One chord per measure for a 4 bar intro. The same idea for the Outro . Pop songs, Blues
Rock, Modern.
-
What are the most common or not so common chord intervals for intros and outros? Song beginnings and endings.
Thank you.
-
Rus Garcia once said about the intro: I quote loosely.
"You have to know someone before you introduce them, so add the intro later after you know the piece."
-
Here is a link to most of the songs I have written in April, have a listen and enjoy. Feel free to comment. Thanks

I use verses to tell a story and the chorus to express the general feeling of the idea( feeling) of the story.
