Play with a metronome, record with a click. Songs always have a natural ebb and flow to them especially when played live but I think it's always good to be able to pick a comfortable tempo for the song and play it to a metronome until you don't even notice that the time keeper is there.
It could be your drummer isn't the best time keeper but I am willing to bet that he is following you more than the other way around.
Practice, Practice, Practice and then more practice!

FYI - While it's OK to post this here Nick, you're not likely to get any useful feedback. That's what the "critique" sections of the site are designed for.
Works posted over here are assumed to be finished...and posted primarily to showcase them.
Tom
Thanks Tom!
I'm new here so I'm trying to find my way around still. I'll go post there.

Hello everyone,
I wanted to get peoples opinion of my new DEMO album before I got into the studio to finalize the tracks and re-cut vocals and drums.
The DEMO version you will hear is just that, a DEMO. The drums are programmed Reason drums and the mixes are pretty rough.
I'm looking for any feedback you want to give on the production, lyrics and songs.
Be honest and critical if need be. I have thick skin so it won't bother me but please try to have constructive criticism.
Thanks everyone for your time and I look forward to hearing what you think.

I use Digital Performer 7 with a MOTU 828mk3 firewire interface. I rewire Reason 4 into for drums and some synth/piano sounds in the Reason Abbey Roads Keyboards refill.
I also have a few waves plugins for eq, verb and compression/limiters and I really like the nomad factory plugins for a more vintage tubey sound.
I mix all in the box.
