THE GAMBLER (poem) L BLUNT NOV 2006

Hes looking at the stars ,

when hes living in the gutter ,

goes to the bookies to have a little flutter ,

hoping the horse comes in without a stutter ,

spend his winnings on a dirty scutter ,

down to the pub to celebrate with a beer ,

moneys all gone and hes got no idea ,

better and gamblers all want it 100 to 1 ,

they get really upset when the moneys all gone ,

on his way home and back to his den ,

never never wants to bet again ,

when all thats left is a free bookies pen ,

oh yes hes the gambling man ,

never listens hes just so addicted ,,

no money left ,

and hes been evicted ,

the gambler , the gambler ,

[Hello Everyone At Songstuff]

Well hello everyone first of all , and i am glad i found this site to say the least .

My name is Lee James Blunt (No relation to james blunt) I am 28 years old from shirebrook near mansfield UK , i love many different genres of music , but mainly rock / Indie but have a love for Johnny cash and Punk music .

I am an ex soldier and have travelled to many countries throughout the world since leaving and have had many life experiences since leaving , i go to many gigs and festivals . I play guitar and sing when i get chance in a band . I have written a lot of material and i am going to post my stuff here to see what kind of feedback i get , criticism always helps as they say , i also enjoy writing my songs as storys of modern day culture and i write a lot of poetry .

HE WAS A SOLDIER AT LARGE ,

HE LEFT HIS HOMETOWN ROOTS ,

TO WEAR THOSE COMBAT BOOTS ,

GERMANY , POLAND AND EVEN IRAQ ,

HE,S BEEN TO ALL THE PLACES WITH A PACK ON HIS BACK ,

22 YEARS UNDER HER MAJESTYS REIGN ,

SEEN HIS SHARE OF PLEASURE AND PAIN ,

AND NOW HE IS BACK IN HIS HOME REGION ,

AND AN HONOURABLE MEMBER OF THE ROYAL BRITISH LEGION ,

OLD AND BOLD WITH A GREAT SENSE OF PRIDE ,

SAT AT THE TABLE WITH A PINT BY HIS SIDE ,

TELL HIS WAR STORIES WHERE HE WAS PUT TO THE TEST ,

HEAD HELD HIGH AND MEDALS PINNED TO HIS CHEST ,

HES THE OLD SOLDIER ,

NOBODY TOLD YA ,

ALWAYS RESPECT HIM ,

NEVER FORGET HIM .
