  1. Hello, New to the board. Not to recording, but I need some help.

I record live speaker events and have been doing so using a pc, sound forge for software, podium condensor mics and an alesis usb mixer. Recently, I bought a laptop and after doing research, found an maudio firewire interface (sound card) and used it to record one two day recording last weekend. Been having some problems with this solution and I was wondering if anyone else uses something other than firewire or is there, more importantly, some firewire mixers or soundcards that one would REALLY recommend?

I am trying to simplify what I have to lug to gigs, but, lol....it is getting more complex as I am getting frustrated with the limitations of and danger of frying my other equipment re: maudio firewire soundcard.

Looking forward to hearing from you!

Hey! Welcome to Songstuff! I'm pretty new around here myself. I always thought M_Audio stuff was pretty good gear!. I do know a friend that had some trouble with a Delta card from M_Audio. It was a conflict with the VIA chipset. Check the website for conflicts or do a search!

  2. Anyone know a decent, experienced (and reasonably priced) elec engineer who knows what they are doing when fixing synths?

I have two needing an overhaul... Roland JX8P and Roland Juno106

Engineer needs to be near/in central Scotland.

    Ta,

    Mikey

PS - Ironically I graduated as an Electronic Engineer... but I managed to get over it. :D

I've got a few screw drivers and a roll of gaffa tape! Is that any use to you? I'm very cheap! I'm in Ireland. :)

  3. In the current climate for labels - the ONLY guaranteed method is to stay focused on building your own audience and fan-base.

Then they'll be all over you with desperate greed and hunger.

Schmoozing gets people to know who you are.

But it's a market that makes 'em want you.

They don't really care how good you are or what you sound like - just how much money they can possibly make.

Well that makes sense! I suppose if the band you're in is pretty busy, and you have a good following, do you need a record label? I know a few bands that are doing the circuits that are quite happy selling CDs to a good fan base!

  4. Hey. I've just been thinking about a new audio card for my computer. I'm about to upgrade the mobo and chip soon, so I thought I might go for a new card as well. At present I have an Audigy, which is ok I guess! I'd just like something a little better! I've been looking at the E-mu 1212m. What do you think?
