  1. Recorded this a while back with my boys (The V-Boys) during a Christmas break several years ago.  I have learned much about mixing since then, so forgive some of the foibles in the mix.

Thought I'd share it.  They were 14 and 16.  The oldest did the MIDI for the bass and strings, me on guitar and MIDI drums.

  2. Very good vocal, lots of words!  I was tired just listening.. whew!  Very difficult to play and sing that, you may want to first record the guitar separately with the variations you would want to spice it up, and record the vocal separately.  You may find the best of both doing that, and then start to work on doing both at the same time for performance.

    But dude, you can sing!

  3. Hello,

Introducing myself.  An average musician (guitar/drums) who loves music, and sound engineering.  I am currently producing a CD for a Christian band in Colorado, but am relatively new to mixing and mastering.  I have a detached studio in my backyard where I do my recording and mixing, but mostly mixing stuff recorded in more fitting studios (my setup is mostly for mixing).  I use Sonar Platinum, and both Focal 8.5" studio monitors as well as a reference system with B&W mains and sub.  I love all things mixing... and have become quite adept at "fixing" tracks that have been recorded in non-ideal situations (especially drums).

Oh... I am mostly deaf in my left ear... but have learned how to mix in stereo with various techniques (lots of reference, head turning, and mono mixing, and more recently, a hearing aid).  I'll be posting in the Critique section to get feedback.  Note, the hearing aid is helpful for balance, but terrible for tone as it distorts the sound -- so I trust my good ear for that.
