I used to like Coldplay but kind of grew away from them. Their new album is quite good though.

That's a sexy Telecaster. I only have a shitty Squire Tele, but some day I'd like something similar to that one.

What a beautiful face (yours)
I have found in this place (this thread)
That is circling all round the sun (this forum)

This is actually a great opportunity. I've been meaning to try writing a rap song. I'll be honest, I don't like most rap (most, some is incredible but I'm usually just not in the mood for it) but I have to appreciate how they can spew out such incredible rhymes with ease on pretty much any topic. This is something I'll definitely look into, thanks for the inspiration!

Entry number one, BOOM. This was a pretty quick affair, so I'd appreciate some feedback too if y'all are up to the task.
Soft Summer,
© Josh Abbott, July 30/08
It's been another hard winter
I'm chilled to the bone
Times haven't been easy
Nothing's set in stone
And I'm out in the blizzard
I'm out on my own
The only comfort I have
Is knowing I'm coming home
To a soft, soft summer
With my baby beside me and my arms around her
A soft, soft summer
It's what gets me through
These times without you
The spring's not the same
Without you around
While flowers are blooming
I fall to the ground
And the songs that I'm singin'
Ring out loud and true
Cause the songs that I'm singin'
Are all about you
You're my soft, soft summer
With my baby beside me and my arms around her
A soft, soft summer
It's what gets me through
These times without you
And sooner or later the snow, it will melt
The birds will be singing and the sun will be felt
The heavens will open up gracefully
And we'll be together, my baby and me
In a soft, soft summer
With my baby beside me and my arms around her
A soft, soft summer
It's what gets me through
These times without you

Hello hello hello, I can't wait to drown in your metaphorical ocean of rock/metal lyrics.

Hey dear, welcome to the party!
Caffeinated, eh? I find myself in a constant state of caffeination. My only known weakness is coffee.

It looks super cool. You could make some great zone-out hypnotizing music using only that guitar. I could play that for hours and not get bored, just drowning in the sustain.

Haha, that's a pretty vague question. Music-wise I'm into a whole lot of stuff. I grew up on 90's rock and alternative, so that still holds a place in my heart. Then I moved towards stripped down folk ala Bob Dylan, Neil Young, Nick Drake. Lately I'm more into dance-punk, electropop and shoegaze such as LCD Soundsystem, MGMT, My Bloody Valentine, Slowdive, etc. I'll give most anything an honest listen these days.
I play guitar (not all that well, yet) and have recently gravitated towards writing my own progressions so I think I'm going to attempt writing songs sometime this summer. I'm also considering getting a harmonica, and learning to play bass on my friend's acoustic.
Other than music I like playing tennis and golf, running, playing random video-games, reading and playing with my adorable new kitten.

Hey all,
Here's my obligatory introduction post. I've been messing around with songwriting more and more lately so I figured it might be a good idea to finally get involved here and take in as much criticism as possible. I haven't recorded anything yet, or really written a complete song, but I think I'm going to try to get something going this summer. Better late than never, eh?

Mike Patton is untouchable when it comes to singing anything, any way.
