I get what ur saying John. I have just seen the light not to long ago about tuning cuz im in the middle of writing my first song but it didnt sound at all like i wanted it to until i played with different tunings
-
Bands like Amon Amarth with their less complex but amazing rhythm guitar, Bullet For My Valentine with their guitar solos and leads but ultimately i decided to start writing after listening to Seasons After's lead and rhythm sections.
-
I use audacity for recording the instruments that i can play but for the ones i dont i use vst host and instrumental plug ins then i write the tabs in a tab editor and export as an midi file
-
wats a good free vst host program i tried "vst host" and its pretty basic but the audio takes its sweet time from when i play a note to when it actually play.
-
ok scratch that i figured out that what is playing has to be an MIDI file format but is there anyway to get my guitar plugged in and play that way?
-
ok i found a host but how do i make them work i am clicking and dragging the plugins that i downloaded into the host window and i click the symbol for their control menus to pop up and i get lost with all the buttons lol
-
where would i go to get a vst? cuz all the "vst" programs i tried to run r either demos that grab u by the hypothetical nuts so u cant do anything or plug-ins for some unknown program

I know i know this is a beaten to death cliche topic but i honestly want to know ppls opinions on which software is better for each OS and which OS has the best overall. I know mac comes with garage band and i have never used it in my life because for as long as i remember i have been a pc but pc products cost ALOT of money sometimes. I am hoping to get a mac soon and see for myself the ups and downs to the mac and its software. bottom line is: is garage band all that its cracked up to be or is there better mac software out there and how do they compare to pc software?
-
i suggest that if its a louder song then then tone it down for the little while that ur hook is about to be played but if its a softer song try and make it melodic so it will stick with ppl
-
i dunno if u wanted another acoustic cuz i dont know much about acoustic brands but my electric crate was $250 and it came with a small amp tuner and carrying case i hope that helps
-
so i have come across a few apps for the pc that can produce drum beats but none of them r 100% free and im cheap lol any suggestions. I am getting a mac with garage band soon to help out in my music composing which comes with pre-recorded beats and rhythms for many instruments but thats not gonna be until the summer sometime and i dont want to be stuck this far from completing my music that long.

Tuners And Tuning
in Performance
Posted
ok i am playing around with different tunings but my tuner only does standard tuning for 6 and 7 string guitars which is fine as long as all of the strings fall under the one of the following keys: E A D G B E but if i want to do something like drop B i would need to change it to B F# B E G# C# and with my tuner i wouldn't be able to get the C# or the F#.
My question: is there any tuners that could help me tune to anything other than standard or are there tricks i can learn that would save me the cost of a tuner?
