When you say hybrid do you mean tube/solid-state hybrid or tube/ digital-modeling hybrid?
When you say live performance, what type of gigs or venues are you expecting to play? Because in smaller venues you might not need 100w to get the sound you're looking for.
Yes i mean tube/solid-state. I have been looking at Randall T2 if i would get it used that would be a good deal for me. I might be OK with 50W, maybee it is even better for me than 100W. I ve heard from many musicians that less can be more.

You can for sure get some good deals on used gear, but if you don't have a lot of experience it's good to have someone knowledgeable about amps, or at least electronics, take a look at your prospective purchase. It would suck to lay down good money for a head, then lay down another 30-50% for repairs a couple of months later...
Dang. Used equipment is on ebay for a reason... maybee it is broken? I dont know... what is an average lifetime of good amp? I can hardly believe you found mesa for 500 USD. I dont like mesa amp sound... I really need something for progressive metal, very modern. What do you think of hybrid amps?
Hey, you mentioned in your other post (about Bugera amps) about lack of experience, which leads me to ask about that. Do you expect to be gigging soon with this amp, or mainly practicing? Will you be recording soon? I'm not an expert on all the gear that's out there at the moment, but these questions would help focus your thinking as to what you really need at this point.
I am buying this amp for live performances.

Hello i am on budget of 500€ and i would like to buy a 100W solid state amp head for playing
progressive metal & instrumental. Any ideas which amp would suit me well?
Thank you.

Hey my new guitar ESP horizon nt 2 just arrived and i am now in pursuit of new amp for playing progressive metal, soloing, etc...
Here are some examples of music i like:
Now i have around 500€ in my pocket. Which amp head would be good for this? I found this company Bugera which is quite cheap for what
they offer. I especially like Bugera 333xl amp head. Has anyone had any experience using this amp head? Cen you tell me something about
reliability, sound, life expectancy,...?
Do you think any other amp would suit my style better? I am interested only in tube amps as everyone says they are better and i am noone
special to judge that as i have no experience.

I want to know what do you think of amp head Peavey 5150? I can get it very cheap but used.

What is your budget for an amplifier?
And what wattage are you looking for? Stack or combo?
My budget is around 500 €. I am searching for solid state amp with 100W. Can you tell me is combo better than separate head amplifier and cabinet? And why?
I have a 55W Layne now but this was good only for playing in a room and hidden from public
Regards.

Hello!
Topic says it all. I ordered Esp horizon nt 2 (black sunburst) from Japan and am now interested in amplifiers suitable for playing progressive metal/rock/instrumental. I like guitar sound of John Petrucci (young and while he was using Ibanez). I like to plug my guitar directly into amp and play... it seems to me that i get better sound this way than using external guitar effects.
Regards.

I don't know about the linux support, my guess is that if the drivers aren't listed then no it doesn't support it. as for the stereo guitar, the Mbox mini has two jack inputs so yes you would record two mono's and then merge them into stereo, but as it only has one xlr input the vocals would be a no unless you used dynamic microphones like the sm58 whoch doesn't need phantom power. The Mbox3 does have two xlr so you should be able to record stereo vox using phantom powered microphones
Thank you for the info. Do you recommend any other external sound card apart from Mbox?

Hello I want to know if external sound card Mbox 3 is supported by Linux. I haven't found any Avid products listed on alsa driver support site. Anyone here has sucess using it on Linux? Please report. If Mbox 3 isn't supported which one do you recommend for stereo recording (vocals & guitar).
I also want to know if I can record stereo guitar and stereo vocals with Mbox 3 Mini. What about with Mbox 3?
