I've always used my fingers to play bass. Most of my bass heroes back in the day played that way and so I emulated them.

Whoosh reminded me of Leonard Cohen. In Suzanne he wrote,
"And the sun pours down like honey
On our lady of the harbour"
Such lovely imagery!

There are lots of lines I wish I'd written, but the first one that popped into my mind when I saw this thread was from Watching the Detectives by Elvis Costello:
"She's filing her nails, while they're dragging the lake."

I played a couple of songs for my first graders and, while waiting for them to finish cleaning up before lunch, I played around with the chord progression I'm using in a new song. It gives me sometihng to do while I'm waiting for the children to get ready.
