Another Excuse

 

I'm the man who tangles cables in your pocket

avoiding confrontation at whatever cost

who'll speak of virtue and do nothing of it

and won't look ahead case he has lost

 

Who's afraid to take what is given 

in case it must be returned

Knowing full well i'll be forgiven 

for abusing what you've earned

 

Who'll give all that I have 

for these dusty pockets bare cents 

and still have the last laugh 

at anyones expense

 

If men were made to be resourceful, then a great one I am

There's an excuse for everything in the palm of my hand

 

If men were made to be selfish, I'll still feel small 

For isn't he who made men the most selfish of all
