Loved you once, left it buried in the ruble

fight if I must, or am I able to recall

as you ask me, a question, turning tables

 

Can we love on, or should we, simply disregard, this time (2x’s)

 

Right a about now, everything we’ve known

has come and gone, whatever we once believed

becomes bitter, like a bad taste left in the mouth

 

What will there be left to say, as we delay

standing like strangers, unable to explain

reasons, or what was said, in rewind or replay 

 

Can we love on, from here, or just walk away

is there a reason, or should we stay together

give it another try, believing, like the seasons in flux

any hesitation in, the decisions made, forcing us, leave or stay

 

Can we love on, or should we, simply disregard, this time (2x’s)

 

Do we realize any our chances left out, or apologize for it all

with feelings we can’t control,  as we think it over

in what we may have missed, our emotions lost in freefall

 

Who were we protecting, as we look into the eyes

when our reasons were compromised by any and all

words spoken between us, we hurt, emotions trivialized

 

Can we love on, from here, or just walk away

is there a reason, or should we stay together

give it another try, like the seasons in flux

any hesitation in, the decisions made, forcing us, leave or stay
