  1. here's another one (it's actually one guy doing all the instruments)
  2. 50 ways to leave your liver. Erm, lover. - Paul Simon.
  3. I think 'sound' and 'style' is an accumulation over time of the things that 'worked' for that band. That could well be less than 20% of all the things that they tried, and got booed either by the other band members, or the fans - and died a quick, silent death, never to be mentioned again. This of course covers only things that *can* be replaced/altered. Other things are just 'them', which is why you can pick out David Bowie's voice in 2 seconds flat, when he does guest appearances. Even in a Queen song...
  4. In case you missed it: http://news.bbc.co.uk/2/hi/programmes/click_online/9598352.stm http://www.youtube.com/creators/
  5. Here's more info on the equipment (from the manufacturer): http://www.novationmusic.com/products/midi_controllers/launchpad/ http://www.novationmusic.com/products/midi_controllers/zero_sl_mk_ii/ btw there's also a guy who did the solo on guitar, tabs are linked to in the description
  6. Rubber Shirt - Frank Zappa dunno if that counts as a solo, or song, or extended jam - maybe noone knows the right classification http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=-_YQxaiUSxs
  7. A nice list of pro and con arguments: http://wiki.openrightsgroup.org/wiki/Copyright_Extension which does *not* mean I am of two minds about this - I find extension totally unwarranted.
  8. Nope, it isn't - it's mainly to protect the record companies, and 'estates'.. The Stones and Beatles album were running out of 'protection'. From what I've read, 15 years would be more appropriate, since most artists have made good on their investment by then. Don't forget this also means *recordings* of classical music cannot be republished if the holder of the copyright refuses to cooperate.

Ahahaha xD I don't think I'd be able to go with those pretty ladies watching!

  10. Well they say you have to spend about 10,000 hours of hard work to become proficient/expert at anything. Even though that's probably no guarantee of success, at least you can rest assured you are miles above the rest of the pack, whatever you do ...
  11. My theory is that if you cannot easily identify it as music, it's probably some new genre.. Seriously tho - it's an interesting question, but with fairly changeable results/answers over longer periods of time. Stuff gets reclassified, too. Rock becomes 'classic/early rock' etc or simply nailed to a decade - a 'very distinct sixties sound' (without further explanation). I think as some have tried to point out earlier, people trying to write strictly with a distinct style in mind, want to play it safe/have commercial interests in mind above musical ones.
  12. Rupert Murdoch says he has been touched by messages left on Amy Winehouse's phone.
