  1. My guess is that good songwriters are born that way...... for the rest of us, it's a huge struggle. I don't try to make it TOO important 'cos I know I'll never write a "hit". You may just be a great "co-writer", and that alone is a good thing. I would certainly be happy with that, if I was in a good band and the songs really worked.
  2. I think the newer country/folk is some of the best songwriting out there right now. Songs like "The House That Built Me" and "Georgia Rain" just grab at your heart, which is what good songwriting is all about for me. Even Taylor Swift writes some catchy songs, and Zac Brown's "Highway 20 Ride" and "Colder Weather" are incredible! I like some pop like Maroon 5, but I wouldn't call their songwriting fantastic, just catchy tunes. So I definitely lean towards new country.
  3. Ha, check out this short video... http://www.wimp.com/recordingengineer/
  4. There are many people who are not "great" singers, but who I really enjoy watching and hearing. Some of the best singers are opera singers, but I do NOT enjoy listening to that. Most of my favorites can carry a tune just fine, but would never be considered fantastic vocal geniuses....
  5. I've been playing covers for so long, just want to write and add some originals into the mix. I don't have any lofty ambitions....
