Is it bad form to approach other writers/musicians etc. about collaborations through social media?

I've heard about the Nashville Number System recently. They act like everyone uses it. I don't want to waste my time learning it if it is a scam. Does anyone use it? Is it difficult to learn? Is it all it's cracked up to be?

I used to always scribble barely legible lyrics in a ratty little green spiral that I somehow ended up with but now I use my phone.
But when I print them out I always keep them in my High School graduation binder. I have no idea why but they have stayed there and never been lost through "many, many" years of moves and life changes. I guess it's my lucky notebook!!!

Do you ever catch yourself wondering if your melody is yours or you have heard it somewhere before? Sometimes when I get so comfortable with a melody I panic that, is it because it came out of my imagination or deep down in my memory?!?

About 3 years ago I was about to go down to theatre for a hernia operation and seconds before they put the needle in to put me to sleep I thought of a line that I knew I wouldn't remember so I wrote it on my arm with the doctors pen before being knocked out.

Hobo, does that mean all of your lyrics have been very calculated and planned and intentional? There are no "Hobo Lyrics" in existence on a restaurant napkin or the back of a receipt or maybe even your hand; and washed away only to be reabsorbed into the Earth and be someone else's inspiration? Thank you for commenting Aurora. I think you definitely have the gist of what my concerns are as well. I too think that someone, somewhere along the lines of production will catch a melody similarity. Hopefully anyway.
