  1. Nice Drjimmy, Sounds like you produce music that doesn't have vocals which is completely fine. You might want to look for some licensing opportunities to get placements on tv/films. I think you can do it! K
  2. Ur right, marketing your music is a totally different game. If you think about it this way, your original songs are your products, marketing is how to promote your products so yes it's like u'r starting your business at that point. It wouldn't be a bad idea to be able to make some $ off your music and your talent though. Lots of things in life started out as a hobby, then the more you do it the better you get at it, in a short while I bet you it won't be hard to figure out how to play this game. People don't want to do something because they don't know how. Just like I remember when I was young I knew music brings me joy and performing makes me the attention on stage, I knew from the get go I had no interest to just play music to the wall but instead, I want to show off my skills lol.
  3. In my opinion, song arrangement is super important because that can transform a mediocre song into a super good and memorable one, a poor arrangement can actually turn a song with great lyrics/melodies into mediocre if u know what I mean. I also personally know and have heard of many songs sung by superstars that aren't that great, but because it's performed by a famous singer, they could sing crap and their fans would still say it's the best.
  4. to fix the overall mix being too muddy have u tried filtering out the low end? Reducing the bass track can also be the solution too.
  5. Do you have anything on Soundcloud or iTunes you can share so we can all hear?
  6. Nice ImKen, Do you have songs on iTunes I can listen to?
  7. How many of you out there actually compose, produce, mix and master your songs all by yourself? If so, are you producing great results? Feel free to share your thoughts and challenges
  8. Nice DaveKell thanks for sharing your story. Have you released any album or singles on iTunes I can hear?
  9. Hi friends, What is the most challenging experience when it comes to mixing your music? Mine is not knowing when to stop tweaking! keyboardcoach521
  10. Mike Robinson, Well, there're still bands out there that write with their own physical instruments and record all instruments live :) So it still happens. Do you prefer writing with piano or guitar? I'm asking because those two seem to be the most popular instruments.
  11. How many of you songwriters out there also produce and mix your own songs? If not, why? Would you consider learning how to mix songs in future? For me, I didn't start producing right away and picked up mixing years later but i've been writing for a long time (I had been paying someone to produce and mix for me before learning how to do it myself eventually). Reason why I didn't start learning how to properly use a DAW right away was because i tried and got too frustrated, so i stopped for awhile, got back into it, slowly got the hang of it. As for mixing, I didn't even care learning it, again i tried and thought it was too boring for me. Or maybe i just didn't have patience back then...:( It took me years to finally doing everything myself.
  12. Why do you think most songwriters never finish and release their songs?
