  1. I had the honor of having a few songs and instrumentals being critiqued by Steve in the past. His understanding of his craft was beyond me and most of what he talked about didn't compute in my brain. He was a person who struck me as being very passionate and dedicated to his craft, he made me feel a tad bit annoyed at his brilliance but as an outsider who had a peek into Steve's musical creations, he was a bright star blazing his own trail on the futuristic sound waves. My sincere condolences to his wife and children.
  2. Hey there, so about two days ago I thought of writing a letter of encouragement using only positive words. I'm directing it toward a general audience and I do plan to read this over music so it does have a little rhythmic element to it, but Im not strict on the number of words and syllable count. Trying to keep the focus on the message as much as possible. I don't have a lot of experience with writing so I'm kind of winging it as I go. I will post what I have so far, below. Nothing is set in stone and I continue to revisit and rewrite, so if you have any suggestions, Im all ears! Let me know if you think it's heading in the right direction or not? Maybe some tips or articles you know of that I could read and apply to my own writing? Anyway, thank you for your time! Ken Title : You’re Beautiful Verse 1: (with background music) The way I would describe you, is beautiful You’re creative and original, there’s no one like you I admire your love for your family, you always show up for your friends You never tire, you’re unselfish, you care deeply Like a warm fire on a cold night Your love and acceptance draws us closer Like tiny streams of cool water running down a mountain slope You quench our minds and give us hope for the future You’re a great friend and a fierce ally These are more than words, you're more than a friend You’re beautiful (Goes into Melodic hook) Verse 2: (with background music) The way I would describe you, is beautiful You’re very special to me and I care about you I want you to have all the happiness, joy and love that life can bring I know its not all rainbows and unicorns, it gets challenging Let my words quench your thirst, Like a tropical rainstorm in the African desert. Let all your doubts disappear like embers into the night Gather yourself around good thoughts, feel its warmth, let it inspire You, your family, your friends, your community You’ve got heart, you’re unstoppable You’ve got the skills, you’re [ undisputable? Indisputable? ] You’re beautiful (Goes into Melodic hook)
  3. Well, I don't really mind if Poetry and Lyrics were in the same category, just as long as the writers label them appropriately before seeking feedback, as the rules of writing differ quite a bit. Nice topic of discussion!
