  1. thanks alot hariossa i actually do have a couple cm demo discs so i'll check out that box you were talking about, i'd really like to get a 606 or a boss dr. sample, but i'm also kindof wanting an airsynth or a casio sk-8, so i might just end up using some software drums to save some $$$ tim
  2. nm, it's a huge analogue synth. i can't get one of those, still, if anyone would recomend a good sounding drum machine...
  3. anyone have any idea what drum machine/synth radiohead uses in "idioteque"?
  4. okay, so i'm having a real hard time finding out what synth calyx is using in his "kingdom" track. and having an even harder time trying to program subtractor to sound like it... i've included a url for the track at the end, if anyone can listen to the track and tell me what kind of synth it is or how to program a synth to sound like it i would really appreciate it Calyx - Kingdom p.s. (the synth i'm talking about is the real fat, out-of-phase sounding square, if it's even a square...)
  5. i'm having some trouble importing/using my purchased iTunes tracks in Traktor, and I think traktor is supposed to take them any ideas guys?
  6. thanks, i use dbpower amp alot, but that is really only for coverting .wav to .mp3 codecs and the other way around actually though, i do now have the necessary program which i found here nsf2wav also, you'll need to run it in dos for some reason unless you get the batch file from somewhere else thanks tim
  7. anyone know where i can get a .nsf to .wav filetype converter?
  8. yeah, a decent piece of equipment, you know, it's got all the features of say a novation xstation or a m-audio ozonic, just nowhere near as high quality, the axyz dome works well enough, 'specially for experimental stuff, i'm pretty satisfied, but the audio-interface could be alot better, i wish i had had another 300 for the xstation...
  9. ok, after taking a while to process all of this information, i was able to solve most of my problems now i just have to return my busted photon x25 for servicing...
  10. nevermind figured it out myself only, my dx7 is having this problem where it will continuously play a note, it's like it constantly uses one of it's polyphony to sustain a note, so after i repeatedly hit a key a bunch of times, that key becomes the one sustained, and i can play a sequence of notes while that one plays? any ideas? tim
  11. Let's say I want to use my DX7 as a master keyboard. Is it necessary to have a midi cable running from the output of my midi interface into the input of the DX7 as well as the cable running between the other two jacks? I have a small midi keyboard (25 keys) with a midi interface and i want to use the DX7 for more performance but i'm having trouble with the midi. If anyone wants to help me out please do. tim
  12. Happy days are here again... First of all, I have to apologize, apparently it's not only neither roland nor boss, it's not even round (mixed up memory i guess) The name of the unit is the electro-harmonix super space drum i guess the round "space drum" part is what confused me in a strange, related story, microsonic is scheduled to perform w/ cash slave clique (owner's of this most ephemeral of all electronics) on July the 8th, 'tis a small world thanks to all who invested time in my quandry tim p.s. you guys have day jobs?!
  13. wow, i'm sitting here in my local library reviewing some of my mail, and i see an e-mail from the performing group that i saw the unit with. This a very freakish happening and pretty soon i should know what it was, if anyone even cares
  14. no luck no luck btw, i'm a gorgeous blonde, 5'7", 36-24-36, and, wait, didn't you go to my site? (look at the pic)
  15. is that a stopwatch or a metronome? haha i was looking at a magazine and i saw this: and i thought it was it but it wasn't, in fact that thing isn't even a drum machine, but it looks like exactly the same
  16. i did the google search and while i did find some neat stuff i'm looking for a certain, specific unit. other than being small, black, and round i really don't know how to describe it, i think it may have even been a dr. beat? thanks again
  17. There was this big art show in d.c. that i went to with these thwo guys just doing some ambient sound stuff, it sortof sounded like wind with a big beat and stuff but whatever, that isn't in the least bit important what is important is this: whilst inspecting the gear of one of the performers i was impressed by the vast array of effects pedals he was using to create the sounds. What i don't know is which part he was doing but i noticed something that struck me as quite odd this performer had a small round effects type unit with boss or roland type font on it at first glance i thought it was a g-minor but it said that it was some sort of drum thing. so i'm looking for this small black drum machine/effects unit that might be boss or roland does anyone know what this is?
  18. i would suggest micing them up, sending them through reverbs, delays, ring modulators, and distorting their sound anyway you can... then, play them in a way that dosen't seem quite right. Perhaps use an e-bow? Or a bow? Then, add it as a background texture for a gruesome and dark piano lullaby, while reciting dark poetry overtop. You'd enjoy that, wouldn't you sprog!
  19. actually, the whole "poor quality" and "cheesy sounding" was what i was looking for. Maybe not poor construction, i don't see why anyone would want that... I am very poor right now, so i would like to spend very little on these, but they seem quite hard to find so can anyone recommend a cheap good drum machine?
  20. well i guess im looking into them for style AND sound so... and ebay only really sells the newer ones right now. but you mentioned similars, what may they be?

    80's rock

will someone help me to find one of those old 80's electronic drumkits for sale? Preferably one with octogan or hexagon shaped pads...
  22. well, i bought it, what a fun item it does aaaalllll kinds of things, it has modulations, filters, reverb, delay, sfx, synths, vocoder, bpm effects, bpm beats, and a sampler.... innovative because of the touch pad, and some of the synths are real psychadelic (therefore i like them) The vocoder is neat, but i wish you could send note number to it via midi (or that i understood midi) well, if anyone else is interested in this thing, let me know
  23. yep... i guess i got them confused because on the making of Dark Side of the Moon, they put a synth right next to a sequencer and he says "here is the companion sequencer" but didn't specify which one he was talking about also, once my music theory teacher asked me if i had a "midi sequencer" for my sibelius program, he said that it would make all of the instrumentation thank you chaps
  24. So is it like, punch in a bunch of notes and mess with the speed (i.e. floydian "on the run") or like the original modular synths (i.e. patch cables) QUE!?!?!?!?!
  25. I see this all over the place. The original place I saw it was scratched into the screen of a school calculator. Alot of funk and hip-hop talk about it, and I just saw it somewhere else tonight sooooo... Please tell me what its all about!!!!
