Hello! My name is JP Genius, but you can call me J.P. or Genius.
My love of music began when I played the piano by ear at three years old at my grandma's house. Throughout my childhood, I lent my talents as a pianist and singer to her gospel band, God's Anointed Children. While my grandma fronted the group, my brother and cousins sang and played the drums. Nowadays, I occasionally score music and write lyrics, but I could use a songwriting partner.
My home studio consists of an AKAI APC Mini controller, a midiplus AKM320 keyboard, a Yamaha AG06 mixer, and a Shure SM48 microphone. After I sketch my ideas on GarageBand, I use these tools to take those ideas to the next level on software such as Ableton Live and Pro Tools. So you could say I'm a bit of a tech head. If you'd like to hear my 400 instrumental songs (and even some of my vocal chops), check out my website at SoundCloud.
Aside from performing and producing music, I spent a couple of years promoting independent electronic musician DJ Eu4ic. My career goal is to teach music and digital media to Black people (and other people of color) with disabilities like myself.
I currently live in the United States, particularly in San Francisco. Besides music, my creative pursuits include podcasting, video editing, and graphic design. And when I'm not plugging away with my gear and technology, I love watching game shows and traveling.
Thank you for welcoming me to a safe space for giving and receiving constructive feedback on great music!
