Dear fellow musicians and music fans. I'm putting together a concert of songs that would usually not be heard in live situations. Songs with ambitious arrangements that are more challenging to pull off than your standard Bon Jovi/Bryan Adams/CCR-repertoire. I'm thinking of doing You're the voice by John Farnham, Only the children by Toto, Limelight by Rush - uplifting and sincere songs that sound larger than life. I hope these three examples explains what I'm looking for. Most of the songs I come to think of, are from the 80's. Do you have any suggestions, possibly more recent than my personal favorites? (Not too obscure, since I want to select songs that the audience would know. I'm thinking of including one Madonna song, Oh Father or Live To Tell, them being quite ambitious pieces of music and well known. But they are also 80's songs…). Thank you for your input!
