  1. Yeah, only reason I put Zeppelin's name on it is mainly because of the improv parts live. I dont know why, but whenever I think of somebody learning Zeppelin, I always assume they learn bits from live performances as well. But I suppose not everyone does things my way.
  2. That's hard, John. Real hard. If Im lookin for JPJ, I gotta listen to Goin to California from the Earl's Court performance. The mandolin is nothing short of fantastic. If I need some Bonzo, Imma go for The Ocean from Madison Square. If I need a Plant pick me up, album version of What Is and What Should Never Be. For Pagey, Ill need Bron Yr Aur Stomp or Since Ive Been Lovin You from TSRTS. But as a whole deal... We're Gonna Groove from Royal Albert Hall. and thanks for the welcome, Rexy. Can I call you Rexy?
  3. That was one of the greatest things Ive ever seen in my life. I, honestly, am a little aroused.
  4. As a lot said, it does really depend on what you're goin for. Open G and E are popular for a lot of blues; Robert Johnson and Muddy Waters are the biggest names I can think of. And of course, they're perfect for slide guitar. Open Gsus4 (DGCGCD) is a tuning Ive come to enjoy quite a bit. The hand positions are just plain fun, IMO. DADGAD is another, as some one mentioned, awesome alternate tuning. Check out Black Mountain Side by Zeppelin, in my opinion, for one the best acoustic instrumental pieces written in it. The big part of it for me is the hand positioning. Gsus4 has me fretting with a single open string in between quite often, which I think works well with sliding chords. Open G makes the M7 and m7 chords come to life for me. Its the same position as top end barre chords and I find them easier to fret this way than in standard tuning.
  5. Hello, all. Name's Sabastian, but most call me Saba. Im from North Carolina, which admittedly isn't the most thrilling thing in the world. Im a guitarist of only three years, but to say it's consumed me wholly would be an understatement. I've also been a drummer for the past 6 years. Also, Im gonna go ahead and put this in the open: Im a Led Zeppelin freak. Same with all my friends. We celebrate Zep days, rather than most holidays. The 9th was Pagey's birthday, by the way, and I hope you all celebrated accordingly. Anyhoo, glad I found this site and I look forward to posting here
