You told me to post here, so why not:

The Elephant in the Room

---

It used to be quite, around here,

before that party, before those beers,

explanations flew, from my lips,

weren't good enough, man she was pissed

Chorus

---

Well all I know is I cheated with her friend,

I said baby please, she said that it's the end,

but I still see her, every day at school,

she makes such a scene, she's the elephant in the room,

I said do you want, us to still be friends,

She slapped me, the nightmare never ends,

and all my buddies say she was too good to be true,

She makes all the fuss, she's the elephant in the room,

---

I don't want to, to fight,

but that's all we could do, that night,

I finished by saying, are we cool?

She said hell no, don't be such a fool,

Chorus

Well I don't want to fight, and I have no room for tears,

and I don't mind to lose you, or have you leave in fear,

but if it's really just your fear, that makes you do the things you do,

You'd still be the elephant, and I'm the small mouse in the room,

Chorus X2

The elephant in the room.

Mom says things are better this way

She's been packing boxes all day,

with every posesion you had

Places the last box in the car,

And silently cries as she prays

The memories will get lost

An empty chair at dinner time

Bach's not playing anymore

A newspaper no one reads

A goodnight kiss, a playground

An elephant on the table night

There is something in my pocket,

Something stolen from the boxes

You said elephants bring good luck

This one you probably forgot

The day you went out of this world

The memories will get lost

An empty chair at dinner time

Bach's not playing anymore

A newspaper no one reads

A goodnight kiss, a playground

An elephant on the table night

An elephant in the room

Now, it is looking out for me

An elephant in the room

To whisper princes to me

An elephant in the room

My love, to remind me of you

The memories will get lost

An empty chair at dinner time

Bach's not playing anymore

A newspaper no one reads

A goodnight kiss, a playground

An elephant on the table night

The Elephant In The Room

V1

You’re pretending

I’m pretending

Everything is fine

Neither one of us wants to say it

Cause we’re living

In denial

Chorus

When I ask what’s on your mind

You’re silent as a tomb

Don’t you think it’s time we talked about

The elephant in the room

V2

We both saw this coming

We didn’t see a cause for care

Now it’s standing in between us

It’s not going anywhere

Chorus

And when you came in this morning

I caught the scent of strange perfume

Don’t you think it’s time we talked about

The elephant in the room

Bridge

Goodbye is word I never thought I’d use

I don’t know if I’ll get used to leaving you

But when you chose her last night it made me see

I’ve been trying to save a love that wasn’t meant to be

V3

You’re pretending

I’m pretending

And baby all the while

We’re falling apart, but we can’t see

Cause we’re living

In denial

When I ask you what you wanna do

You’re silent as a tomb

Don’t you think it’s time we talked about

The elephant in the room

Can’t you see the end for us is like

The elephant in the room

An Elephant in the Room

V1

Billie’s holds centre stage again this morning

Her curtain rose just as the day was dawning

It won’t fall again ‘til late into the evening

I wonder who she thinks that she’s deceiving

V2

You had best delay anything you want to say

She’ll hold sway until the end of the day

Billie will need all of your attention

What don’t reflect her, won’t even earn a mention

Chorus:

She so studiously strives to be Inelegant

Everybody else’s presence is Irrelevant

For all intents & purposes assume

That there’s an elephant at large within the room

V3

The colours on her costume will sear into your eyes

The company she keeps are chameleons in disguise

She sweeps away all grace and poise before her

Trumping them with outrage and disorder

Repeat Chorus

Can I post a lyric with this title I wrote with McNaughton Park that I posted for feedback in August?

The Elephant In The Room

I opened my eyes

But the other guys

Acted blind to the news I was breaking

Were they not wise

To the ample supplies

Of knowledge there for the taking?

Cause here was a rich man, a scar on his face

And a girl on each tattooed arm

Everyone must know how his conquests were won

But they chose to pretend

His lady friends'

Pockets were not full of his charm

So it's down to me

And I'm sorry to be

This po-faced harbinger of doom

But shouldn't someone say

Something about

The elephant in the room

I say "look at the truth

What's it doing here?"

I'm scolded for being too damn right

Sometimes I wish

I could just vanish

Unnoticed into the night

I always have to make some foolish remark

End up being hooked by the gaffe

Suffocating silently by my faux-pas

As everyone plays dumb

Thinking I'm a fish from

A school of psychopaths

So it's down to me

And I'm sorry to be

This po-faced harbinger of doom

But shouldn't someone say

Something about

The elephant in the room

Is it just me

Or is it hard to see

Denial can be habit-forming?

When the cold winter breeze

Hits eighty-five degrees

Will we still be down with global-warming?

What will we do when the mother runs out

And the engine won't go on consuming?

Any port in a storm can harbour our doubts

But will we button our lips

And so sink all our ships

When it’s plain a crisis is looming?

So it's down to me

And I'm sorry to be

This po-faced harbinger of doom

But shouldn't someone say

Something about

The elephant in the room
