The Importance Of A Shared Language For Songwriters

Hi Guys

There has been a lot of talk of Songwriting language on these boards over the years. people misunderstanding each other....

We each need to understand concept, and application..... I would say it is in our own best interest to evolve our discussion in a positive way... and sometimes taht means learning new things.

What is your take?

Cheers

John

I thought I had a pretty good grasp on terminology, but the recent article by Lazz on the history of terms really opened my eyes on some things. I personally like to use precise terms, but being dogmatic about the application of terms isn't very helpful or useful in getting people engaged, especially since there is so much variety in terms of experience and interest among people who frequent the site. I don't believe you're suggesting this of course, and in fact I think having the resources available is a great step, so everyone can take what they want and need according to their abilities and interests... evolving the discussion in a big picture sense...
