Veteran Guitarist, Rookie Songwriter

Hey everyone. I'd like to just introduce myself here at the forums. I randomly stumbled upon these forums when looking to improve my songwriting abilities and I thought it'd be a good idea to join a community of like-minded music lovers. I hope ya'll don't mind a little background story as I introduce myself.

I am a guitarist of about 6 years, predominately based in blues music. I started my musical "career" with self-taught guitar based in blues. For the longest time I wanted to be the best guitar player in the world. I idolized Stevie Ray Vaughan and as of now, with all due respect to SRV himself, I can play a majority of his licks and consider myself a fairly talented blues guitar player. The blues then led me to John Mayer which in turn brought me into the world of singer/songwriters. John is probably my biggest musical influence right now and I have decided to record and produce my own record by the time I graduate next spring. I am very limited in music theory but am trying to get better.

I am completely new to the realm of songwriting, as my best musical talent is improvising and solo playing, but I hope that ya'll can help me out and give me some critique on my stuff as I move forward. Thanks!
