If these bands need to take such a huge amount of time then they should just buy their own studio - it would be cheaper.

They could rent it out when they weren't using it to recover the cost.

Many people already had this very same idea.

But it always involved problems.

First of all - it has to become a serious business and be working 24/7.

And I have lost count of all the fabulously well-equipped facilities which have closed down because of the steep decline in demand.

As the rubric of this thread implies - things have changed.
