Experimenting With Song Form

Hey

I don't know if you ever feel stuck in a rut songwriting wise. It's one of those things that insinuates it's self into your writing.

One of the less obvious ruts (in comparison to topic) is song form. Regularly, and predictably using the same or closely related song form.

For example:

verse, chorus, verse, chorus, bridge. chorus chorus

So I thought I'd start a topic to discuss song form, understanding the terms (chorus vs refrain etc) and to look at some of the common forms and hopefully to look at examples of those song forms.

Anybody interested in getting into the nuts and bolts of songwriting?

Cheers

John
