ALONE IN HARMONY

THUS BECOMES POETIC CORNER ©2012

written by Kaleb Workman

I can feel lost

And pay the cost

To live life now

But we can't ask how

To be happy together

In society forever

With no fear of love

No hope from above

Outcasts alone

We groan and moan

Longing for a reason

A escape from treason

For the ones we love most

The ones we hold close

Tend to turn their backs

Forcing upon the things we lack

Pouring out our bleeding heart

Screaming out we fall apart

Crying now we lost all cause

Bloody yells, our heart to pause

Never starting, our life will end

Never to begin again

I'm crying out

We're shouting now

Hear us, feel us

It's not a virus

We are people like you

But nothing you do

To try to help

Caught within yourself

You lack the power

You lack the will

To look around and see what's real.

Like we do, we suffer

Wishing for something

But in return get nothing

But fear this life of hate and pain

Foggy clouds and skies of rain

Hide us from the world they know

Hold us captive to never show

Who we are, who we wish we could be

What we've done, what we want to see

A world, not perfect

but perfect enough

We found ourselves that life is rough

For us because we're different

Because we aren't the same

We have ideas you call insane

But dreamers do what dreamers wish

Til' shrouded upon your ego's mist

We stand together to make us tall

But split apart we feel so small

We scream and shout

Please hear us out

I'm not just one

For we are many

But why do we feel so alone

Because ignorant and selfish people

Leaving us without a sequal

Oh, how the world has changed

Distant worlds and other places

Stern looks and unfamiliar faces

People we are without a group

Left aside out of the loop

We try to act strong

Pretend to be calm

Until the moment we're alone

When we sing misery's song

And scream out our lungs

And our head then lays hung

In shame and sadness

In envy and madness

Why can't we be happy

Like you don't judge the cover of a book

Don't dare judge me for how I look

We're different, we're unique

We're odd ones, so you speak

But I am not you, nor will I ever

For people like cause lives to sever

Create a world for everyone like us

To live with people like you equally

To live our lives peacefully

So we write our songs

So we write our poems

We write about love and bad omens

Call us losers but we are not

You don't know me but give it a shot

Because I tried to know you, you shot me down

Just then now I wear a frown

So we want to try to live in harmony

A life to live with you and me

As equals as one

Our quest is far from done.

really love this. "But dreamers do what dreamers wish" could be my mantra too.

my wife and i shared a similar misanthropy for the rest of the world when we were together; we felt like two pariahs living as one-

so this is very much speaking to me.

even though this is a poem, there is a natural rhythm here that i could easily see transcribable to lyric

well done dude-

I would consider myself a social outsider in that I like to communicate with people and respect and I am intrested in different opinions but have allways followed my own path in life not feeling that I could or should conform with the "'masses".

So I have to say that this speaks to me to and you have a very good way of using words to convey the emotions of shared isolation (you seam to be sharing your experiance with a loved one?). I feel a good amount of hope in the lyrics to even if poem is dark.

In my imagination if there was such thing as a poet video I would see that your and your partner are water colour while you walk through the world of shapes, people and objects in pen and ink, and whilest the ground underneath you is shade of black and grey the sky above you is awash with oil paintings.

A metaphor for the your dreams and hopes if you will.

Thanks for the poem I really enjoyed it and it sparked my imagination!
