This is a poem I wrote a while ago for a former teacher of mine. I'm moving schools tomorrow and I was wondering if I should give it to him. I wrote it as an eighth grader. I wasn't big into poetry and I didn't know what I was doing. I'm much older now and I have a passion for writing music and poetry. I was wondering what changes I should make, if any, or if I should just leave it all original. I know it needs a lot of work...

How lucky I have been, to know someone like you


Who has taught me things about myself that I never knew


I admire your words of wisdom in my time of need


For always having an open door, for listening to me


For making my little problems, a lot more clear


For always being supportive, kind and sincere



With your compassionate words, you always got my attention


Sustained my motivation, my
ambition

Mr.******, I just wanted you to know


How much you’ve really helped a quiet me to grow


You’ve touched my mind and heart, by putting me at ease


Inspired me to try my best, and to make you proud of me


Of you I will carry great memories, for forever and its end


Memories of a wonderful teacher, a role model and a friend

To you, my favorite teacher, I can’t thank you enough


Despite my recent challenges, with your help I didn’t give up


Thank you for being that special teacher who made me who I am.
