dreamed of you-in my anticipation

 

the come back-it's been awhile

 

I called you- my home-fleeting memory

 

I recalled-within every detail- miss cape cod

 

was your native son-still you let my heart die

 

one slow- beat at a time-turned your back-became

 

bitter like a lover spurned-denied me-kept your distance

 

made me a refugee-cast me off- I waited for-your beckoning call

 

only in time- we recognize- with patience- that drew us back

 

to rekindle- miss cape cod- what we had-could not be denied

 

like love underscored- to feel your beach sand under my feet

 

breathe in the salt of your air-taste it-right there on my tongue

 

we are complicit-all is forgiven-you and I -together, reconciled
