From A Reflection

FROM A REFLECTION

 

shadows are cast-forlorn over our backs

 

melting here and there-along-this

 

vacant stretch of beach-we come

 

to feel it-that loss-of our years

 

we walk shivering-against the cold

 

lost in our reflection-deep in thought

 

our reminisce-as we let it go

 

against-the pounding surf -echo- repeat-echo

 

left is undertow- submerge- unable to breathe

 

we can't go back- so we walk on-through

 

a simple refraction of light-turning day to night

 

where there is no trace-or doubt-remaining

 

we are exposed-given in-to the mood of the elements- a moon in denial

 

for whatever remained-between us- you and I

 

all will be buried tonight- with the in coming tide
