Studio equipment/how to get your music "out there"?

Hi

I have been writing texts/lyrics and singing for as long as I can remember. But when it comes to music production and music instruments I'm a total beginner.  I have never in my life took any singing lessons or so (may I add that I'm turning 20 by the end of this year), and I have a non-existing talent in music/audio production. 

I have tried to find some answers by going online but after searching around for a while I just got too confused by all options that are available out there.

And I just felt like it would be a good idea to throw out all my questions on a forum like this one. 

 

So, mainly, Im looking for some good tips on how to create/build your own music studio and start producing your own music at home.

What equipment should I consider buying to begin with? Like, what is necessary for me to look for as a beginner, at a bare minimum?

And are there any good, relatively cheap studio kits you can get out there?

 

Of course I'm looking for equipment of good quality, Im just trying to sort out really what will give me a great start and what would just be a little "overkill" at the moment.

 

I also may add a question I've been thinking about for a long time - how do you get your music out on platforms like spotify? I know about soundcloud, youtube etc., but have always wondered what to do to promote yourself a little more or how to be "seen" by people who can promote your music? 

I feel like it's a little difficult. This is a childhood dream of mine but just like always, childhood dreams seem to be forgotten or repressed as you grow up and start applying limits for yourself because of what others tell you about your own limits and what you are available or not to achieve in your own life.

 

Maybe I'm a little naive but, after all, I guess this is a forum for people like me xD
