New Condenser Mic

Recommended Posts

First I must say that I'm no expert in microphones, I used to record with a cheap no-brand SM58 copy,

never compared it with a real SM58...

I decided to buy a decent mic since I'm going to take my voice more serious from now on.

My budget isn't too big, so I looked at this tube powered condenser mic from thomann:

I paid it "cash on delivery" from www.thomann.de so the mail office added 5€ on top of the original price.

I can't be happier with the sound, it's a million years better than my cheap old mic, it sounds very warm and it has a deep low end, it comes in a metal case with its power supply, cable, wind shield and shock mount. Everything looks well constructed and the case is very practical. [smiley=vocals.gif]

Hey, have you tried any of the beta models?

Both actually. The Beta58 & Beta57 have a stronger presents to the mixing board (less gain required). It is noticable but I don't think it is worth the cost. This is just an observation from live gigging. I can't say if they are worth it in the recording field.
