A Day In The Life, Beatles 1967

Recommended Posts

"A Day in the Life" is a song by the English rock band the Beatles, released in their 1967 album Sgt. Pepper's Lonely Hearts Club Band.  It remains one of the most celebrated songs in music history, appearing on many lists of the greatest songs of all time.

Lennon's lyrics were mainly inspired by contemporary newspaper articles, including a report on the death of Guinness heir Tara Browne.

A lot of time, fake news is so obvious.

But it was a solid performance as always, and that live sound you get is just terrific 👍

Hi Greg,

Thank you, Greg.

Coming from you, I am not touching my settings on my mixer.

Actually, there were folks suggesting that the reverb is a bit much on this recording.

I will always go with your recommendation, Greg, and thank you for your feedback!!!

Always great to hear from you!!!

No fake news here!!!  If ever, this is purely from the heart.

With love and respect,

Rene

Probably because the reverb doesn't match ... is surprisingly 'bigger' ... than video's intimate room setting.

But beyond that, the SOUND is great 👍 (but a personal opinion only).

Hi Greg,

I have about 6 ready to be rotated in my music room, and about 10 more lying around the house.

Part of the uniform.

And the reverb in my room is something else.

I am being told, not to touch my room reverb and sound settings.

I think I just got lucky on the "big" room sound I have at the moment.

Even my guitar, unplugged, is being picked up with a huge sound.

Thanks for the notice, Greg!!!

Hi buckoff,

Gout is not a good thing.

I take my allopurinol, and keeps me ok for gout, but when it hits, it hurts.

Indeed, them were the days.

Thanks for the feedback and the support, buckoff!!!

Oh, your voice sounds great!  I can't believe that someone is actually covering this.  It's my favorite Beatles song.  Real good stripped down acoustic version.  I think that the transition to Paul's verse with the mimiced vocal effects was just great, as well as the transition out of it, but I think, perhaps, something other than just the strummed chords would change it up enough to give kind of a break to the whole song.  Maybe some palm muted chords there or something?  Just a difference in playing to really bring out the change in the song.  Great cover, though!

Hi Stewart,

Your feedback is much appreciated, and I agree with your muted chord suggestion.

I am so glad to hear your wonderful comments, and truly humbled by your words!!!

Thank you so much!!!

Respectfully,

Rene
