Hi, I am Lindsay Jupp and I manage Strange World Music. I started writing at the beginning of 2002 met a young musician from Norway, we wrote some songs together. The collaboration was a bit short lived so when it came to an end I continued writing but could not find a collaborator. It was 2019 when I finally got music for my lyrics and I have been making songs ever since. I have featured artists on some of my songs and I hope to maybe achieve having a song licensed for TV or an advert or even a film.

Hello John, I do pitch my songs and I have had songs chosen by Music Supervisors but haven't got further than that so I just keep working at it. I pitched a song to a music supervisor who was looking for songs for a company that was working on an advert for a chocolate bar. The music supervisor chose my song but I haven't heard anything and it has been a while now. It doesn't get me down it just makes me want to try even more :)

Hi John,

The Music Supervisors have the information on companies looking for music that is why I submit to Music Supervisors. I am also a member of Song Link and that has information on record companies and artists who are looking for songs and with this one I am actually pitching my songs myself. I also have other outlets where I can submit songs. So I just keep plugging away at it.

Good to hear. Its the right attitude. I know of Music Supervisors and SongLink but I’ve never worked with either. The library music market is a hard one these days. I also think it is worth developing relationships with production companies and doing direct pitches for the bespoke market. Getting to know some producers can get you in on the ground floor when a new project kicks off. A bit more effort, but better rates. Have you tried directly pitching to artists?

Hi John,

I have sent songs to other artists, I pitch but it is the waiting game as it takes ages to hear back or I don't hear back at all and it is one of those things where many many other artists are doing the same thing. It is like I sent song to a Library and 7 months later I get a 'congratulations we have accepted your song' So I just keep at it. I am working on a new song and I will have a featuring artist performing. I am looking forward to releasing this song it is always nice to welcome other artists to perform on my songs, also I am collaborating with this artist on one of his songs. I try every avenue. I enjoy it as I never know what might come of all this. :)
