Does anyone?

hey

When did you last buy a synth? Does anyone buy hardware synths for the studio anymore?

I guess gigging musician needs a mobile set up, and you might want a decent controller keyboard.

I like soft synths to an extent, but I like dedicated interfaces. I know there are several controllers available, but they are pretty expensive. (anyone recommend any cheap ones?) I don't mean the keyboard type controllers, I mean controllers that will allow me to adjust synth parameters such as lfo rate etc.

Neither hardware or software synths tick all the boxes. Talking of which, I've just had a great product idea!

Cheers

John

well, I don't do any gigs right now, and if I have to play I surely play guitar, not keyboards...

I own a Roland PC-180A which is a very basic keyboard controller and an Akai MPD-16 drum controller that works fine for my fingers. As for a multi-parameter controller I know that there are a lot out there, even some cheap behringer one. At one time I was thinking about buying a Novation Remote 25 that has a lot of potentiometers and an X-Y touch pad that looks great...

Hardware synths are very expensive compared to the software ones, you even can use only shareware and freeware synths and a laptop... I don't own any hardware synths.
