I am a 25 year old pianist from Belgium. Have been playing piano from classical to jazz all my life and am pretty good from a technical point. Only within the last year have I started writing pop songs and am really enjoying it, despite occasional moments of over-analysis leading to major self-doubt. Songwriting is so different from other musical disciplines, that I'm not really sure how to measure my progress, but I'm still very eager to improve.

Hi Sprees,

Three of my favourite pianists are from Belgium: Ann Wolfe, Natalie Laurier, and Ivan Paduart.

Self-doubt is productive and eagerness to improve is essential.

(But that's only my opinion - there are plenty of opposing examples)

I think.
