Online download charts...

Apparently downloads are now being used to help compile the weekly pop charts, and they are being more closely watched now than before.

Does anyone know mutch about how these charts are compiled?

I did hear something about this on the news. One would assume it's compiled from the likes of ipod and others!. I wonder whether this will eventualy include the indie downloads?

I just wondered how many sites, types of download etc. were involved, and more to the point how this is resolved geographically. So someone in Japan downloads an mp3 from a uk based dot com site. What chart does this go in?

Just a thought.

I don't know which sites are monitored or how they are tallied, but I would imagine that the only artists whose material is kept track of are only the ones who are in the "regular" charts to begin with.
