I know this thread is on the older side, but I had just come here to ask a similar question and happened upon it. I too wonder sometimes if a melody I just came up with is actually something I've heard and am subconsciously mimicking. I think, boy, this melody is awesome! It sounds so natural and came to me so easily...oh, wait, is that because it's on the radio right now and I'm just not recognizing it? LOL But from reading this thread I feel fairly confident that once I post my songs for critique, objective listeners will catch it even if I don't.

1. Do you sing, play an instrument or instruments? I sing and am learning guitar on my own. 2. Are you in a band or bands? Nope, but that would be super fun! 3. Do you write songs? I have written a few songs and have a lot more in mind to write. My first collaborator was my 15-year-old nephew, and I think the song turned out great! 4. Do you record your music? Not yet, other than on my voice recorder simply so I won't forget what I just came up with. I've got a small mixer, mic, and an iMac so I can make a basic home recording when I'm ready. Will also get on SoundCloud at some point. 5. What other roles do you perform in the music business? Nada 6. Are you a tech head? Sorta. 7. What country do you live in? U.S. 8. What are your ambitions? Basically, playing for my own pleasure and possibly in small venues locally. No aspirations to fame, although if Faith Hill wanted to record one of my songs, I wouldn't turn her down, LOL! 9. Do you draw/paint/write stories/computer art/dance or other creative pursuit? Yes, I read a lot and have written a couple of books. I am also an amateur photographer. If I could write, take pictures, and make music all day every day, I would be beyond ecstatic. 10. What would you like to get out of Songstuff? Connections with other songwriters so I can learn from them and hopefully help someone too.
